CGHM Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Center for Genetics in Health and Medicine awards two postdoctoral fellowships each academic year. Each fellowship provides one year of funding for individuals who wish to undertake a research project in the field of genetics in health and medicine. We encourage interdisciplinary projects, with co-mentorship by faculty in clinical and basic sciences in the Medical School or co-mentorship across different schools. Application deadline for 2009 fellowships is January 12, 2009.

Eligibility

Applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and hold a position as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan. Awards will be made to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international applicants.

Application

The postdoctoral candidate will provide a letter of recommendation from their Ph.D. thesis advisor, and a biosketch in NIH format. The project narrative should include: Title, Specific Aims, Background and Significance, Experimental Design (including preliminary data), and References. The narrative, including figures and tables, is limited to 5 pages of double spaced text in 11-point font with 1-inch margins. References should be complete and include all authors and article titles. References are not included in the page limit.

The mentor and the co-mentor will each provide a letter of recommendation, including a description of their role in the project, biosketch and other support in NIH format.
